SHARE - Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe

The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is a multidisciplinary and cross-national panel database of micro data on health, socio-economic status and social and family networks of more than 120,000 individuals aged 50 or older (more than 297,000 interviews). SHARE covers 27 European countries and Israel. Its scientific potential lies in panel design that grasps the dynamic character of the ageing process and in the extensive data gathered from people all across Europe, covering the interplay between economic, health, and social factors in shaping older people’s living conditions allowing international comparisons in age related issues.
Hungary participated in the SHARE project in wave 4 in 2011 and wave 7 in 2017. TÁRKI collected the data in Hungary in both waves, and it has been selected to run the fieldwork of the upcoming wave 8 as well. In wave 7, TÁRKI reached approximately 1800 respondents from the approx. 3000 from wave 4 in 2011. During wave 8, we plan to add a refreshment sample to the remaining panel sample.
