New publication of TÁRKI staff in the Journal of European Social Policy

TÁRKI's colleagues': András Gábos, Barbara Binder, Réka Branyiczki and István György Tóth published a joint paper which is now available online in the Journal of European Social Policy. In this article, they show that using a floating poverty threshold considerably underestimates the strength of the relationships between poverty, employment and social transfers.

They analysed how the rise in employment have transformed into poverty reduction in Europe. They described the factors that explain the level and changes in the relative poverty rates, both within and across countries.

Final Conference of PIONEERED

The Final Conference of the PIONEERED Research Project took place in Esch-sur-Alzette, LU, hosted by the University of Luxembourg, between 30 January and 1 February 2024. The PIONEERED project started three years ago, aiming to map pioneering policies and practices tackling educational inequalities in nine European countries. TÁRKI participated in all work packages of the now closing project, being task leader in the production of the report summarising quantitative findings across countries. As part of PIONEERED, our colleagues, Zoltán Hermann and Dorottya Kisfalusi published a paper in the International Journal of Comparative Sociology on ‘School segregation, student achievement, and educational attainment in Hungary’.

Continuous improvement of TÁRKI Open Access Platform (TopAp)

The TÁRKI Open Access Platform (TopAp) aims to provide open access to the TÁRKI research results online, without access fees or other barriers. We manage our research data responsibly in accordance with the FAIR principles of "discoverability", "accessibility", "interoperability" and "reusability". We follow the very reasonable principle of being "as open as necessary". Therefore TÁRK launched its very own open access platform to provide opportunity for a broader audience to immerse into TÁRKI's publications.

Infra4NextGen cooperation for a greener, more digital Europe

We're thrilled to announce the launch of the Infra4NextGen project, an initiative funded by the European Commission! This four-year project, kicking off on March 1, 2024, aims to harness the power of social science research infrastructures to shape the NextGenerationEU recovery plan and European Union youth policy.

Infra4NextGen, coordinated by the European Social Survey European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ESS ERIC), brings together key players like CESSDA ERIC, the European Values Survey (EVS), and the Gender and Generations Programme (GGP).

New research project: TÁRKI's Latest Research Initiative: Exploring National Identity, Citizenship, and Digital Technologies in the ISSP Framework

We are thrilled to announce that TÁRKI able to secure funding for the next two rounds of the Hungarian fieldwork of the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP). The project will be delving into two crucial themes over the next two years, which will now be financed by the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (OTKA, K_147571). The first leg of our research, slated for 2024, focuses on national identity and attitudes towards citizenship. Following this, in 2025, we will turn our attention to the complex intersection of digital technologies, access, and their socio-political implications.
