Child Well-Being in the European Union - Better monitoring instruments for better policies
TÁRKI Social Research Institute has prepared a background paper for the Hungarian EU presidency that aims at contributing to the child mainstreaming process within the European Union through the improvement of monitoring tools in the field. The background paper is available now online.

TARKI Social Research Institute has prepared a background paper for the Hungarian EU presidency that aims at contributing to the child mainstreaming process within the European Union through the improvement of monitoring tools in the field. The background paper has been launched in June 2011, after being discussed at a workshop bringing together experts and stakeholders active in area of child well-being from across the EU.

Session of the Demographic Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences – November 12 2010 in Budapest
András Gábos presented on a paper (Child poverty in Hungary in a European context - in Hungarian) written together with Zsuzsa Blaskó at one of the regular sessions of the Demographic Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on October 12 2010. The paper builds on results of the project related to the the international comaprison in the field of child poverty as well as on the findings of the Hungarian country study within the same project.

Article in Társadalmi Riport 2010 published by TÁRKI
András Gábos published an article (Child poverty int he European Union – in Hungarian) in the biannual book series Social Report (Társadalmi Riport), summarising the main findings of the analytical part of the Study, updated on the most recent data available.

8th ESPAnet Conference 2010 – September 2-4 2010 in Budapest
András Gábos gave a presentation (Determinants of child poverty and policy responses in the European Union) on the main results of the project at the 8th conference of The European Network of Social Policy Analysis. The theme of ESPAnet’s 2010 Annual Conference was the social consequences of the global financial crisis and its differential impact across Europe. The paper was presented in the Poverty and Social Exclusion stream.

Eurochild Policy Steering Group meeting – September 1 2010 in Brussels
Istvány György Tóth and András Gábos presented on the ways of implementation of the child well-being indicator recommendations of the project at the Policy Stering Group meeting of Eurochild in Brussels, September 1 2010.

Workshop on Child Poverty and Well-Being in the European Union – June 16 2010 in Budapest
The main results of the project were presented at the workshop on Child Poverty and Well-Being in the European Union on June 16 2010 in Budapest. The Hungarian EU Presidency background paper builds on these predecessors and aims at contributing to the child mainstreaming process within the EU.

The second project meeting of the Alice project – February 2 2010 at Essex University
András Gábos gave a presentation (Child poverty and child well-being in the European Union – determinats, policies, indicators) at the second project meeting of the ALICE project on the main determinants of child poverty and on the policy pratcices in the field within the members of the European Union. The project meeting took place on February 2nd at Essex University, as part of the ECASS-funded “Colloquium on Cross-national Methods for the Analysis of Incomes and Inequalities”. Analysis of Life Chances in Europe is an integrated programme which examines life chances and living standards across both the “old” and the “new” member states of the European Union. ALICE is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

First Benelux-Nordic expert meeting on child and youth policy –December 13-15 2009 in Amsterdam
András Gábos gave a presentation (Indicators of child poverty and child well-being in the EU to assist evidence-based policies in the Member States) on the child well-being indicator recommendatinos within the project at the Benelux - Nordic Seminar on Indicators of child and youth well-being - The link between knowledge, policy and practice, held in Amsterdam, 13 - 15 December 2009. The first Benelux-Nordic expert meeting on child and youth policy was hosted by the Dutch Ministry for Youth and Families and organised by the Netherlands Youth Institute. The topic of the seminar was 'the use of child and youth well-being indicators in child and youth policy'.

Eurochild 6th annual conference – November 11-13 2009 in Cyprus
Istvány György Tóth presented on the child well-being indicator recommendations of the project (Indicators Child poverty and child well being in the EU: developing an indicator system to assist evidence-based policies) at the 6th annual conference of Eurochild on Monitoring child well-being: better policy and practice, held in Cyprus, 11-13 November 2009.
