TÁRKI Social Research Inc. is an independent, employee-owned research organisation that specialises in policy research in the fields of social policy and the social consequences of economic policies. This includes related data-collection, archiving and statistical activities. We recently increased our involvement in the areas of strategic market research and health policy analysis. In addition, we regularly contribute to basic research, in the areas of social stratification and inequality, and to the methodology of empirical social research.

Brief Biography

Marton Medgyesi holds an MSc in Applied Economics (with a specialisation in demographic economics) from IEP Paris and a PhD in Sociology from Corvinus University in Budapest. His main research interests are income distribution, private and public intergenerational transfers, and redistribution. He has served as a researcher at TARKI Social Research Institute since 1997 and regularly lectures on social policy at the Corvinus University. Medgyesi is involved in a number of international projects at TARKI, including the "European Observatory on the Social Situation - Network on Social Inclusion and Income distribution", National Transfers Accounts project of the National Institute of Aging, and Millenium Development Goals country report on Hungary (UNDP).
